Pathways to Canada

There are many pathways to enter and remain in Canada to work, live, study, and also attain permanent status in Canada. Each one caters to different classes or types of applicants. There is a vast body of information on these available to the public. We have tried to provide here some key information for your understanding. Keep on reading and contact us today to discuss the options that best suit your needs from here and beyond!

Immigrate

  • The most prominent option is through Express Entry, which is Canada’s main pathway for economic class skilled workers, under Express Entry; to meet the requirements of either the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) or Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
  • Canada’s second popular pathway is for skilled workers through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Most of the provinces provide the program for PNP in order to select new workers who can immigrate and work in the province, which fulfills their local job markets.
  • Canadian permanent residence as a business immigrant is an option too, such as the Federal Self-Employed Program, the Start-up Visa, and entrepreneur programs operated under the PNP and by Quebec.
  • Canada offers a number of family class sponsorship programs. Canadian citizens and permanent residents may sponsor family members and loved ones for Canadian immigration, through these programs.
  • LGBTQ2+ individuals and couples are given the same rights and opportunities as others, to find an opportunity to immigrate to Canada.

Super Visa

Parental Sponsorship is a program designed to invite parents or grandparents to get permanent residence in Canada. To be eligible for a super visa, you must have a signed letter from your child or grandchild who invites you to Canada, which includes the following:

  • Invitee/Sponsor must be over 18 years old
  • Financial support for the length of your visit
  • Names and number of people living with the invitee
  • Copy of invitee’s Canadian citizenship or permanent resident document

Note that it is required that your sponsor will financially support you and that you would not need any type of social assistance from the Canadian government. (Must meet LICO requirement)

Spousal Sponsorship

A Canadian citizen or permanent resident, who must also submit a sponsorship application in support of the foreign spouse, must sponsor the spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner seeking to immigrate to Canada.

Eligibility:

  • To qualify as a spouse, you must be legally married to the sponsor. The marriage must be valid under the law of the jurisdiction where you were married and under Canadian law, regardless of where you lived after you were married.
  • As a common-law partner under Canadian law, you must cohabit with your partner in a conjugal relationship for at least one year (12 consecutive months).
  • The conjugal partner is for partners who would qualify under the spouse or common-law partner categories but are prevented from doing so by local law or other factors beyond their control such as an immigration barrier or marital status.

Federal Skilled Worker

If you meet the minimum eligibility requirements, we will help submit a profile to Immigration Refugees and Citizenship  Canada (IRCC). Your profile will be placed in the pool of candidates who will receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence based on their rank in the pool.

Candidates in the pool are ranked using a point-based system called the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Points are awarded using the information on their profile. The candidates receive points, depending on various factors, including:

  • A valid job offer from an employer
  • Grant of nomination through provinces or territories
  • Necessary experience and skill factors

This procedure of processing the eligible applications and reaching a decision may take six months or more depending on your rank in the pool.
